KUDO Software is pleased to announce that our Principal R&D Engineer Chris Jonsson will be speaking at this year’s WindEurope Annual Event. His session, “Context-aware and AI-ready fault diagnosis with the wind energy Operations Ontology (OpOn)”, forms part of the programme “Applying AI and Large Language Models to wind operations.”

Chris has over a decade of experience in the wind energy sector, spanning energy yield assessment, operational performance analysis, technical advisory, project development, and software development. He holds a Master of Engineering (MEng) from University College London and is an active contributor to IEA Wind Task 43, as well as IEC standardisation efforts and wider industry collaborations.

His presentation will explore how a shared operations ontology can help unlock the full value of wind farm data. Despite the vast volumes of operational data available across the industry, challenges around integration and understanding often limit its impact. By introducing a common, machine-readable framework, OpOn enables clearer data definitions, improved interoperability, and supports more advanced, AI-ready applications such as fault diagnosis.

The work forms part of a broader collaborative effort within the WeDoWind ecosystem, bringing together experts from across the sector to develop and expand a foundational ontology for wind energy operations. This includes defining key operational concepts such as processes, roles, objectives, states, environments, and alarm messages, with further extensions to cover more detailed, domain-specific use cases.

If you’re attending the event, be sure to join the session and hear Chris’s insights in person.
