It was just like any other Christmas Eve; Mrs Claus helped her husband load up his sleigh for his annual trip around the world. The reindeer were fed, watered and all the presents were wrapped and ready for delivery.
Mrs Claus waved her husband off and looked forward to her only night of peace and quiet in the year.
Santa took his usual route and it wasn’t long before his first disaster occurred; heading straight into a storm which wasn’t forecast. Gale force winds and blizzard conditions delayed Santa landing in Oceania by two hours – he was already running behind before he’d delivered a present.
When landing in Asia, he landed on a dangerously slippery roof and only just managed to slow his sleigh down in the nick of time.
In Africa, he forgot to close a gate as he was leaving a property and the owner’s dog escaped. Following a half hour chase, Santa safely returned the dog.
His real problems began in Europe when he got stuck in a narrow chimney and had no way of contacting his elves for help. By some miracle, he managed to free himself before the reindeer called it a day and left without him.
Still running behind due to the storm and unnecessarily narrow chimneys, the icing on the cake occurred in the Americas when his attempts to deliver presents to some houses were blocked due to bad behaviour, wasting even more time.
A favourable wind direction for the rest of the night meant Santa miraculously clawed back all his lost time, and before he knew it, he was back at his own front door in the North Pole.
He told Mrs Claus about his disaster of a night, and she knew something had to change in time for next Christmas.
This year…
Following on from last year’s debacle, Santa's workshop is making safety a priority contacting KUDO to purchase its elf and safety app, Connect; a digital solution designed to ensure Santa can go about his night in a safe and efficient manner.
Developed by Scotland’s brightest tech-savvy elves, the app is a real-time tracking and hazard-alert system that integrates seamlessly with Santa’s mobile network and SPOT device. Managed by a dedicated team of elves, the app provides Mrs. Claus with full visibility of Santa’s journey from the comfort of her own home, offering real-time updates on key safety factors and her husband’s movements.
Learning from previous mistakes, the app has been packed with features to overcome the challenges faced last year, including:
Weather watch: allows Mrs Claus to send weather notifications to her husband, ensuring he can avoid storms and adverse weather zones
Access restrictions: alerts Santa to hazardous landing zones, including slippery roofs
Emergency locator and contact details: a direct signal to locate Santa instantly whilst providing him with emergency contact details should he need to raise an alert – ideal when caught in narrow chimneys
Egress restrictions: notifies Santa of any instructions before he takes off, including closing gates to prevent dogs (and other pets) escaping
Prevents users from accessing and leaving sites: notifies Santa if children are on the naughty list and prevents him from accessing their roofs
“We’re using the latest technology to ensure Santa stays safe while delivering joy” explained Mrs. Claus. “This app allows us to support Santa with the same care and magic he gives to children around the world.”
Thanks to the collaborative efforts of Mrs. Claus and KUDO’s elves, Santa safely completed his deliveries on time.
“This app is a game-changer,” Santa commented. “With its help, I can focus on spreading joy while staying safe.”
KUDO’s "Elf and Safety" app is now a permanent fixture in the Claus household, ensuring Christmas deliveries go without a hitch for years to come.
