Meet Stephen Elliott, one of our newest recruits here at KUDO as a Customer Success Manager. With a background in tech and a passion for technology, Stephen has joined us after spending the past few years supporting medical research initiatives. Drawn to KUDO’s mission and values, he knew this was the right next step for his career. We took some time to ask him about himself and what led him to the role he’s in today.

How did you get into this industry?

I've always been passionate about technology and communication — two forces that have the power to connect people across borders and cultures. Early on, I was fascinated by how software could bridge global gaps, enabling collaboration and understanding in ways that were previously unimaginable. That curiosity naturally led me to pursue opportunities where technology and human connection intersect, which eventually brought me to KUDO — a company that sits perfectly at that intersection.

What does a typical day of work look like for you?

Each day is dynamic and filled with collaboration, creative problem-solving, and continuous learning. I work closely with colleagues across different teams — from tech to operations to client services — tackling fresh challenges and brainstorming innovative solutions. No two days are ever the same, but the constant is a shared focus on delivering real-world impact through technology that connects people. I also carve out time for personal development, whether that's learning a new tool, improving a process, or simply gaining a deeper understanding of our global community's needs.

What was your career path to the role you are in now?

From the start of my career, I’ve been drawn to tech-based solutions that have the potential to create real change. I previously worked with a Grant Management company beginning in 2015, supporting medical research charities focused on ambitious goals like “stopping cancer by starting new discoveries worldwide." It was incredibly fulfilling to work alongside organisations committed to advancing prevention, diagnosis, and treatment. When I decided it was time to find the next step in my career, it was essential that I joined a company whose mission aligned with my values. When I discovered KUDO and spoke with the team, it quickly became clear that this was the right place for me — a company committed to making a meaningful difference on a global scale.

What is an after-work hobby of yours?

I'm a family guy… No, I’m not Peter Griffin! Any spare time I have is spent exploring the stunning landscapes of Scotland with my wife and our energetic two-year-old son, who currently has a serious obsession with Blair Drummond Safari Park. I also have three teenage children, although these days they’re usually too "cool" to hang out with their dad (unless there’s pizza involved).

What is a fun fact about you?

I’m a multi-award-winning DJ! Not a cool James Hype type DJ though. So instead of EDM and festival anthems, I'm much more familiar with the likes of Billy Ocean and classic crowd-pleasers. It's been an amazing way to bring joy to people’s big celebrations over the years.

What do you enjoy most about working for KUDO?

Without a doubt, it’s the people. From day one, I was welcomed into a supportive, passionate, and talented community. KUDO has a truly global environment where diversity isn’t just celebrated — it's essential to our success. Working alongside colleagues from so many different backgrounds, all united by the mission to make communication accessible to everyone, is incredibly inspiring. Every day, I can see the real-world difference our work makes, and that’s deeply motivating.

What is the best career advice anyone has ever given you?

"Stay curious and always be learning."

It’s simple advice, but it’s stuck with me. In the tech and communication industries, things evolve faster than you can blink. Remaining curious, open to feedback, and committed to personal growth has been key to staying not just relevant, but also excited and passionate about the work.

What career advice would you give someone wanting to be in your role?

Focus on building strong communication skills, both written and verbal. Be adaptable — change is a constant in this industry. Never be afraid to ask questions, seek mentorship, or admit when you don't know something. Enthusiasm and a genuine willingness to learn open more doors than you might think. And most importantly, never lose sight of the human element behind the technology — that's where real impact happens.

What’s an accomplishment in or out of work you’re proud of?

I'm proud to be a qualified Life Coach and Breathwork Therapist. Earning these qualifications has allowed me to help people find happiness, clarity, and purpose on their journeys — something that feels both deeply personal and incredibly rewarding. It’s a dream come true to be able to positively impact lives beyond the professional sphere.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?

I would love to travel to Japan. Its rich culture, history, and traditions have always fascinated me, from the incredible food scene to the profound sense of respect woven into daily life. Exploring Japan would be a true adventure, blending my love of learning, culture, and discovery.
