If you’re responsible for keeping teams safe on-site, the pressure can be immense, especially in the case of an emergency.

Imagine a fire is rampaging through a site, and you’re working within the nacelle, with no clue of what’s going on outside. The control room is trying to phone everyone to get them off site, but it just so happens your surname starts with the letter V. It'll be a while before they get to you. Unaware and working away, you don’t find out until it’s too late to get out.

It may come across as dramatic, but it’s an entirely plausible scenario. Workers on-site are often the last to know about emerging dangers. Methods of communications between office-based staff and personnel on site are slow and outdated, often relying on phone calls with poor signal and word-of-mouth to help relay information to entire site teams. These systems cause information to go missed, and are often time sponges for office-based staff.

It’s clear that teams need a way to streamline this process and ensure that every single person on site is made aware of emerging situations.

How KUDO improves communication

In an emergency, your team shouldn’t be left guessing who to inform. With KUDO Command’s Site Broadcast feature, you ensure every person on site is notified at once, directly on their mobile phone.

In the control room

In the event of an emergency, the control room staff won’t need to break out in a panic, and start having to get a hold of everyone over the phones, worrying about prioritising who should be informed with the hopes of them passing on the information via word-of-mouth on site.

Instead, one web portal user can simply open the site broadcast feature for the relevant site and enter a title for the emergency, as well as any supporting information. The web portal will then display all the people who will receive the notification on their device. With a couple clicks, an entire site-wide team is made aware of the hazard.

Once the notification has been sent out using the web portal, users can manage the site broadcast and view information on recipients, including live information such as the time they read the notification, meaning you’ll know exactly who’s seen the alert, and who’s still at risk.

For the workers on-site

For the workers out on-site, the process is massively simplified. Instead of relying on senior staff to relay information, everyone on site simply receives a notification directly to their own mobile phone and can click onto it to receive further information and complete any necessary actions.

When lives are on the line, there’s no time for delays, and by having the site broadcast feature in place, your workers are kept aware and safe.
